Phi Delta Psi (ΦΔΨ) Fraternity was founded on March 21, 1977 on the campus of Western Michigan University.
Phi Delta Psi was founded on the principles of eternal honor, perseverance, leadership, achievement and brotherhood. The founding fathers of the organization sought to create a fraternity that would meet the social, economic and political challenges of males. Phi Delta Psi places importance on their founders' mantra of community service for the benefit of their universities, families, communities and the world.
The founders of Phi Delta Psi felt that an intake process should be conducted for the purpose of developing men capable of supporting the ideals of the organization. It is the policy of the organization to induct members based on "the intelligence of their mind and content of character rather that the thickness of their hide."[1]
